You can select a character for Rebirth on the Hero Selection screen. Likely *because* they spent more time with their systems and *not* doing QoL stuff, at start.Diablo III Season 12 is now live in all gameplay regions! To create a Seasonal hero, choose your class, gender, and name as usual, then select the "Seasonal Hero" option.Īlternatively, you can use the Season Rebirth feature to continue your adventures on an existing character by starting over this Season. The fact we're getting it early at all is amazing tbh, and likely suggests they can just lift most of their D3 design into D4. Every decision at this stage comes at an opportunity cost, often heavier than later points, and game design/balance/optimization is a far FAR bigger NEED than a QoL feature that effectively saves a few minutes of creation time for a slice of players. A rebirth feature as described isn't likely hard to implement, but it's also likely not trivial, and upon a game launch there is a limited amount of devs/dev hours and time in general. When you work in software, you'll have to pick and choose what is *critical* versus what's QoL or nice to haves. Its people who wanna keep playing their "main" and get all the hours on one char, it is not a huge deal but why remove something that was in before? Like buying a Tesla 2 and it doesnt have a windshield like the Tesla 1 had "for reasons"īecause they didn't "remove" the feature, they "didn't add it". Comment by zolphinus on T21:07:18-05:00Īnd this is for sure not about lazy or not, lazy people just create a new char and press start. Comment by Ashley on T21:06:26-05:00ĭisappointed it's not already in there, but at least it's on their radar as a very requested feature. Even the most hardcore rpers i know don't see the point in this. I actually don't see the point in this? What's the difference between this and spending 2 minutes to just recrate your character it's not like names are unique so you can just use the same name. Certainly not until the merger with Microsoft goes through, if and when it does. Over the more than 10 years D4 was being worked on the revolving door at Blizzard basically ensured that the game would be a mess and, frankly, I don't see it getting better any time soon. The person who is currently in charge of D4 (game director or whatever the title is) didn't even work for Blizzard until 2020. Not only did they rush the launch and consequently delivered a very incomplete and lackluster product, but they also had zero direction or a cohesive approach during the lengthy development process. They literally learned nothing from the past. Did they not look at D3 and look at every feature and decide on things to move forward? The fact that this wasn't a feature to begin with is silly. ![]() Season 1 Developer Update Summary Season of the Malignant Blog Post ![]() It's clear that players are clamoring for Rebirth - and Blizzard has heard their cries! Do you think Rebirth is a feature that should be present in Diablo 4? Let us know in the comments below. ![]() That makes it even harder, then, to give up that character - particularly in a Seasonal game where the very nature of play means starting over again and again.ĭiablo 3 featured a mechanic called Rebirth, which allowed those characters to continue on - starting a Season with a Rebirthed character allowed you to take a Non-Seasonal character and convert them, resetting their level, gear, and progression, but allowing their legacy to continue on.ĭiablo 4 currently has no such feature - but potentially not for long! Diablo Community Lead Adam Fletcher weighed in on the possibility of Rebirth for Diablo 4 on Twitter: Whether you're a one-and-only main player or an altoholic, every character has its own story: its epic victories, crushing defeats, and tales of valor and glory that live fondly in any players' memory. It's no secret that players get attached to their characters.
